Philips Keychain Digital Camera?

Okay!
I bought this today and it only had the USB cord.
No software included.
I went to driverguide.com and downloaded the
software. Followed the instructions and whatever.
i restarted my computer and it still doesn't work.
I went to MY CAM and said fail driver.
I went to Scanners and cameras on my computer
and tried to add it to my computer. it didn't appear in the
folder meaning i went to add device. saw the list and clicked
on MARS MR97310 CIF Dual Mode Camera. press ok and didn't appear in my folder. I have Windows ME...that could be the problem.

Go to the Philips support site and get the drivers. You MUST uninstall any other drivers you have installed for this before you install the correct driver or it will not install properly. If you cannot uninstall the other drivers then you will have to reinstall WinMe to get it off. WinME is not that forgiving about drivers for USB devices.

Since you did not mention the model here is the general link.

Your computer is basically not identifying the camera when it is connected. You need to install the software and driver before you connect the device in WinME. Do not connect the device before you install the software first. Failure to do so will require a reinstall of ME to recover. I have had luck in the past with removing all USB device drivers from the Windows directory and in the .inf files inf sub-directory, but that also removes all other devices and you will have to reinstall those. Do a search for *usb*.* and rename all of them that your computer finds by adding a .old to the names. This will disable them and then you can install the new drivers. Then you can do another search for *usb*.old and remove the .old from the names. This will recover any other devices that you use. If it complains that you cannot rename a file because another file exists then skip that file, do not rename it, do not delete the other file.

Will having wifi at home affect my health negatively?

I have wifi wireless Internet at home, but I'm worried that it will affect my health. I've heard it gives out rays and can cause cancer. Is this safe?

Keeping Wine Fresh?

I'm a bachelor and it takes me way too long to finish 750ml and even longer 1.5L. By the end of the week its pretty acidic.

I bought a four pack of those mini screw top bottles. After I drink them, I'm going to refill them with 750ml bottle. My assumption is that it will keep the air out. With a larger bottle as you drink more air is let into the bottle. So do you think this will work?
thx for all the answers. I don't refrigerate, because I don't like what it does to the taste of red wine even though I've heard it lasts longer.

I'll also have to try that cork thing too. good point about the spillage. I think I'll pour first into a measuring cup or get a funnel.

Understanding Your Blood Alcohol Level

Your blood alcohol level (BAC) identifies the amount of alcohol present in your blood stream. Alcohol gets absorbed directly by your blood, making it relatively easy to test for. It does not get digested first like food does. Whereas it may take several hours for the nutrients in food to be absorbed by your blood stream and distributed to your cells and organs, alcohol can be absorbed and distributed within about 50 minutes.

Your rate of metabolism is a major factor in determining how quickly your body will process and eliminate alcohol from its system. Your liver is responsible for processing alcohol, and it is then expelled through your sweat, breath, and urine. The quicker your metabolism, the quicker your liver will process the alcohol in your system.

On average, most people can process and eliminate one drink per hour. One drink is considered:

• One shot (1 oz. of 80 proof liquor)
• One 12 oz. beer
• One 4 oz. glass of wine

Your BAC will start to rise at a rate of .02 for every drink you consume above one an hour. As your BAC rises, your organs become more and more saturated with alcohol, causing you to feel intoxicated.

Breath Tests

The breathalyzer machine tests the alcohol level of the air in your lungs. There is a direct ratio of 2100:1 linking the alcohol concentration in your lungs to the alcohol concentration in your blood. In other words, every 2100 milliliters of air has the exact same alcohol content as 1 milliliter of blood.

In order for a breath test to accurately determine your BAC, you will need to supply a continuous breath sample of at least 30 seconds. The passage of time will not necessarily lower your BAC. If you have consumed several alcoholic beverages just prior to getting behind the wheel, your body will continue to process this alcohol over the next hour or two. Therefore, it is possible to have a higher BAC when you reach the police station than you did while driving.

Blood Tests

Blood tests are not used as frequently as breath tests because they are considered a more invasive procedure and your blood sample will need to be sent to a lab, causing it to take longer to receive the results. However, blood tests are the method of choice when you are under suspicion of being impaired by drugs.

It is important to understand what is being tested when you are given a blood test. Some labs test whole blood while others test plasma or serum. This will have a big impact on your BAC.

Whole blood is made up of cellular material, plasma, and fibrinogen (a clotting agent). If the solid material is removed, you are left with plasma or serum (plasma without fibrinogen). If the lab is testing your plasma or serum, it will give you an artificially high BAC.

This occurs because when the cellular material is removed by centrifuge, you are left with the same amount of alcohol in a smaller volume of liquid. This will increase the concentration of alcohol in the blood liquid. Serum or plasma BAC measurements are generally about 16% higher than whole blood BAC measurements. This is a big difference.

It is a good idea to ask the lab technician what is being tested. If he is testing plasma or serum, you can expect to be considered more intoxicated than you actually are. This is important information to provide to your DUI attorney.

Choosing a camera for inspection: Color or monochrome?

When purchasing a new suveillance system you must decide between color and monochrome cameras. Many times businesses decide on a system without understanding how the choice affects the performance. Most surveillance systems include color cameras because users feel more comfortable with color images. They are more into the aesthetics rather than performance of the system. On the other hand, some owners may want monochrome cameras because they assume they would cost less, which is not always the case. The best decision an owner can make is they must consider the strengths and weaknesses of each system so they can get the best value for their money.

 

High Resolution

A single pixel can yield only intensity information. Most color cameras determine pixel color with a combination of filters and interpolation from the intensity values of adjacent pixels. This interpolation reduces resolution. For example, the arrangement of blue and red pixel sites in a Bayer filter makes a single-imager color camera more prone to horizontal and vertical interference, particularly on objects with straight edges that follow a row or column. Therefore, designers often favor monochrome cameras when resolution is most important such as in banks and stores.

 

Owners who want their systems in both color and the highest possible resolution need another alternative, a color-imaging system that does not interpolate. In this case, three separate sensors gather three color channels of information. A separating prism placed in front of the three sensors directs the red, green, and blue light to the proper detector. While the three chip color camera present resolution that matches that of a monochrome camera, the prism and additional sensors make this system more expensive. Also, these cameras use more power than their counterpart. Finally, although the sensors in these color cameras may equal the resolution of the monochrome sensors, they are not always easily available. Many times, you can get the required resolution on a large-format single-chip color camera by choosing the lenses with an appropriately adjusted magnification.

 

Inspection Example

An inspection system that must decide whether fuses are correctly placed in an electrical harness often needs a computer to make color differentiation evaluations. Because fuses are color coded, you might be inclined to use a color camera. If the purpose requires human visual inspection on an analog monitor, a color camera would be a good choice. If the components were in color, inspectors would find it easier for them to do their job.

 

But if a computer performs the inspection where they must distinguish few colors, a monochrome camera may provide a more cost effective solution. Most image-processing algorithms process pictures to a pixel depth of 8 bits. A color camera would take the color planes from each image and analyze it in three separate color channels. A final pass-fail decision would have to compare each analysis against the others. The ensuing processing time of the images could slow down the inspection step, limiting system throughput. In this case, image-processing speed and higher resolution requirements favor a monochrome camera.

 

However, a monochrome camera cannot distinguish colors well. Significant color variations within batches of similar filters can manufacture incorrect results. To improve contrast, adding a color filter usually works. So, a filtered monochrome camera works fast and can provide sufficient contrast for two-color applications.

 

If the application involves additional colors, a monochrome camera might not be enough. Instead, inspection parameters would define each fuse as a ratio between mean pixel values in the three different color planes. Consequently, applications that do not allow cooperation on either resolution or color require a three-chip color camera; the greater processing time becomes unavoidable.

 

The obvious choice of monochrome vs color cameras for machine-vision applications is not always clear. System designers must look at the different tradeoffs such as processing time, resolution, pass/fail-decision accuracy, power consumption, and, of course, cost—to make the best decision for each situation.

Creating a Laminated ID Badge

Id badges and passes are important for school, office and event use. Id tags may include name, title, photo and information about the access level of the person. Laminated badges look great and are protected from wear and tear damage. Creating laminated ID tags are easy to make with a few supplies.

First you will want to select the size of your badges. You can buy perforated paper to print badges on or print on standard card stock and cut to size using a paper cutting machine. One standard size option is to print business card size ids and laminate with a luggage tag or vertical id tag pouch that is pre punched for your lanyard or badge clip, but any size badge can be made. Determine what contents needs to be included on the ID and how prominent the badge must be. You may want a large badge or one that will fit into a person's wallet or pocket. Before printing, its best to look at standard size laminating pouches to avoid additional costs in customized pouches. You will want to get a pouch that is about 1/4" wider and longer than your card. Laminating pouches can be purchased pre punched in certain sizes or can be punched using an oval slot punch intended to punch a hole perfect for use with lanyards and clips. When selecting your pouches, you will also need to choose a mil thickness. Most card size pouches are available in 5mil, 7mil and 10 mil. Thicker pouches will be sturdier and last longer. If your id badges are for a weekend event, a 5 mil pouch may be appropriate. If you are laminating annual id badges for employees to wear daily, a 10 mil pouch is recommended.

If your ID will be displayed on the employee, visitor or attendee then you will want to select badge clips for clipping the ID onto pocket or collar or select a lanyard for hanging from the neck. If you purchase a non punched pouch you will need to punch the ID card to allow the badge clips and lanyards. It's best to select a quality punch, as cheap versions get dull easy and perform badly.

If you need to also select a laminating machine for you id cards there are a couple important factors to consider. Besides the obvious points of choosing a machine that will last, size is an important factor. There are many ID laminating machines on the market that are 3"-4" wide. If you will use your laminating machine soley for laminating id tags, this may be an option for you but is probably not the best investment. First, a larger sheet size laminating machine normally costs only slightly more than a card size machine. A larger machine can also laminate more than one id at a time, placing 4 card size pouches into a laminating carrier will substantially reduce the time required for lamination. Lastly, a larger machine is more versatile and allows for the laminating of larger documents in addition to small, card size pouches. Some laminating machines are limited to 7 mil thick pouches or thinner, so be sure to find a laminator that can handle the pouch thickness you select for your id badges.

A Short History

Many corporations sensed that Information Technology was going to revolutionise how we work, how we think and how we live. There were many early players in the Desktop PC market. Hewlett Packard introduced a high-end programmable calculator which included a keyboard, a basic Operating System, a display unit and a cassette drive. At the same time, similar products were introduced by IBM, Wang and Tektronix. These basic models soon evolved into business computers.

The year 1975 saw the first pre-assembled desktop computer to become available in the market. This was the MITS Altair 8800, which because of its less than professional appeal didn’t quite take off. It was in 1977 that three breakthrough models, the Apple II, the Commodore PET and the Tandy TRS-80, made an impact.

The Modern Desktop Computer

Today, we take the Desktop Computer for granted. It is part of nearly every aspect of our life and defines how we live. This wonder machine is comprised of a Display Unit, Motherboard, Central Processing Unit (CPU), RAM (Primary Storage), Expansion Cards, Power Supply, Optical Disk Drive, Hard Disk Drive (Secondary Storage), Keyboard and Mouse.

The Desktop PC can be defined as a general purpose tool whose functioning revolves around a microprocessor. The different parts work in tandem to give us a multi-functional machine which we can use to type documents, store data, browse the Internet, communicate via e-mail, play games etc.

How It Works

The brain of the computer is the central processing unit. The functioning of the computer is overseen and monitored by this CPU. Storage of data is an integral part of a computer. It is essential that this memory is fast and efficient. A computer is comprised of several specific types of memory.

The Random Access Memory, commonly known as RAM, is the primary storage medium. It is used to temporarily store current information. Read Only Memory or ROM holds information permanently and consists of data that has been completed and not being worked on currently. Further, there are the Basic input/output system or BIOS, and Caching and Virtual Memory which are available on the hard disk. Desktop computers commonly contain one or more hard disk drives. All these memory devices, work together, to help us use the computer for various uses.

The Hard Disk plays a central role in a desktop computer and is the main storage medium. If the hard disk functions smoothly, it usually translates into the smooth running of the desktop computer. It is, however, a finely put together device and the slightest error or scratch can result in a head crash. This means we could lose the data stored on the hard drive. These hard drives typically have a shelf life of 3 years after which it is advisable to change it.

Transferring Data

Data stored on one desktop computer is usually transferred to another computer by using an external storage device. If a computer is connected along with other computers to a mainframe, then one can share information by storing data on the main server. Data can also be shared from one computer to another via the Internet.

There are several external storage devices available that complement the data stored on the hard drive. They act as backup storage devices and unlike the hard drive are portable in nature.

Safety Issues

The data stored on a desktop computer is as susceptible to data loss, as any other computer. Data loss can happen due to a variety of reasons like hard disk crash, virus attacks, natural disasters and data theft. Backing up data on external devices is imperative as a solution to data loss. The best way to counter data theft from a desktop is to have encrypted passwords.

Conclusion

While laptops are becoming increasingly popular, they have yet to take the place of the ubiquitous Desktop PC. So popular is the desktop computer that it is almost considered a necessity in the modern world. It is a one-stop point for work, information and entertainment and is, indeed, a thing of wonder.

Its a Lexmark all within one we have dsl we hold voice mail surrounded by our phone lines. The fax machine is hooked up to the jack next to the computer not the phone. Settings are correct. Is it neccesary to get another phone dash as suggested by our phone company? We have friends that enjoy only one chain and works fine.

Does anyone know how to reset the filter indicator pallid??
I have a HEPA type Holmes Air Purifier (Model # HAP422SRC-U) next to a filter indicator light. It's wishy-washy came on, so I changed out the filter. While I was at it, I added carbon/odor grab filters. The instructions included next to the carbon filters said to remove the foam pre-filter (it wasn't needed), so I did. The indicator desk light is still on, but I can't find anything online or in the almanac about HOW to reset it. The box a short time ago says "reset when shifting the filters" ... grrrrrr! Shouldn't it auto reset??

Accidents are not inevitable, and falls are no different. With the right combination of education, equipment and training, you can eliminate falls from your workplace.

Working in a high-risk industry is dangerous enough, so whether you’re on a roof, platform, ladder, moving vehicle, or high rise, you need protection from falling. Falls from scaffolds, roofs and ladders constitute half of all disabling falls and they are often due to loss of balance because of tripping, slipping, and shifting or unstable ladders. Unfortunately, you cannot trust your body to have excellent balance at all times. With the right fall protection equipment, you can prevent disabling injuries and fatalities in high-risk workplaces.

Fall protection is more than wearing a hard hat and a safety harness. It starts with prevention and equipment.
